Lürssen Yachts stands as one of the world’s most prestigious and accomplished superyacht builders, with a distinguished heritage spanning over 150 years since its founding in 1875 in Bremen, Germany. As a family-owned company now in its fourth generation under the leadership of Peter Lürssen, the shipyard has earned an unparalleled reputation for creating some of the most extraordinary custom superyachts ever built.
Specializing in bespoke superyachts ranging from 40 to over 180 meters in length, Lürssen has consistently pushed the boundaries of yacht design and engineering. The shipyard’s commitment to excellence is reflected in every vessel, combining cutting-edge technology with timeless elegance and meticulous attention to detail. Each Lürssen yacht is a unique masterpiece, tailored precisely to the owner’s vision and requirements.
Lürssen’s portfolio includes some of the most recognizable and celebrated superyachts in the world:

Lürssen Yachts is not only committed to luxury but also to environmental responsibility and technological innovation. The shipyard has pioneered numerous sustainability initiatives, including the development of fuel-cell technology through the Pa-X-ell project in partnership with Freudenberg. This groundbreaking work has produced the first viable fuel-cell system for yachts using PEM technology with an onboard methanol reformer, enabling zero-emission operations. Lürssen was also the first yacht builder to utilize waste engine heat for onboard desalination systems, demonstrating their innovative approach to resource efficiency.
Operating from state-of-the-art facilities in Bremen-Vegesack, Lemwerder, Berne, and Bremen-Fähr-Lobbendorf, Lürssen employs approximately 1,935 skilled craftspeople and engineers. The recent acquisition of Nobiskrug shipyard in Rendsburg in 2025 has further expanded the company’s production capacity, ensuring continued growth and capability to undertake even more ambitious projects.
Friedrich Lürssen said: “My firm shall be known as the leader in both quality and performance.” This commitment continues to drive every aspect of the business, from initial design concepts through to final delivery and beyond. With comprehensive support services through Lürssen Logistics, including yacht management, maintenance, and crew training, owners receive unparalleled service throughout their yacht’s lifetime.
